Northern Drakensberg
The Northern Drakensberg streaches from Cathedral Peak to Royal Natal
The Northern Drakensberg covers an area stretching from Royal Natal National
Park in the North through Mweni to Cathedral Peak in the south.The most famous
of all the Northern Drakensberg features is the World famous Amphitheatre.
This massive Northern Drakensberg wall stretches 4 Kilometers between the Sentinel (3165M)
and the Eastern Buttress (3047M). Other famous peaks in the area are: Mont-aux-Sources,
the Inner Tower and the Devils Tooth, to name but a few. The Tugela
Falls plummets 948m in five clear leaps, making it the highest waterfall
series in the world.
The Northern Drakensberg is accessed via the historic towns of Bergville and Winterton and
also Harrismith in
the North. The Northern Drakensberg is about an hour and a halfs drive from
the the Antbear guest house so is still well within reach for a day trip.
