The Drakensberg
Mountains present spectacular
opportunities for both the experienced horse
rider and the beginner to ride this magnificent
countryside on horseback and spend the day
exploring the mountains. We offer our own horse
trails here at the Antbear but there are a
lot more options and we like to guide our guests
to what would suite their needs best.
Horse Trails in the Drakensberg
- Antbear
Horse Trails offers very
affordable horse trails in the foothills
of the Drakensberg with spectacular views
of Giants Castle. These horse trails
are ideal for beginners and you could
even get a horse riding lesson before
the ride.
- Berg
Trails offers horse trails
in the Kamberg Valley on appaloosa mountain
ponies. This horse riding experince is
suited better towards experienced riders
as the rides are mostly 4 hours and much
of the trails are trotted and cantered.
- Spionkop
Game Reserve (EKZN) offers
Horse trails in the Spioenkop Game reserve
which include rhino, giraffs, zebra and
wildebeest that can be seen while horse
riding.
- Cranford's
Appaloosa Stud Farm - Horse
Trails Discover the beautiful Midlands
on horseback, with regular sightings
of reedbuck, bushbuck and amazing bird
life. An experienced guide will accompany
you on our special well trained horses
and customize a ride to suite your requirements.
Picnics and light lunches can be organised
on Request. Rides go out in the morning
at 10am and in the afternoon at 2pm.
Booking is essential. Please call in
advance to check availability. No children
under the age of 6. No persons heavier
than 95 kg’s. Riding lessons in
the arena are also available on request.
